Mexico - 27/07/09 SGS Durango Lab Assessed to the Requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 July 24th, 2009. Lakefield, Ontario - SGS is pleased to announce that our geochemical laboratory in Durango, Mexico has completed the on-site evaluation of the Quality Management System. This assessment measured conformance to the requirements of the ISO/IEC 17025 standard for the General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories. Ten test methods were evaluated, covering 35 elements including Fire Assay with Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (AAS) and gravimetric analysis for Gold and Silver; aqua regia digestion, strong acid digestion and peroxide fusion by Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES), 3 acid digest for Silver by AAS and titration methods for concentrates. The evaluation procedure was an overview of the quality system including the management and technical requirements covering procedures and test method documentation, proficiency testing, training, equipment, method validation, accommodations, and traceability of reagents and supplies. The Durango facility offers exploration sample preparation and testing, rapid analyses for high-grade materials, metallurgical process control analyses and bench-scale metallurgical testing including flotation, grinding and bottle rolls. The lab also functions as a gateway to other SGS services and submits samples to other SGS labs, some of which carry the ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation.
