SGS Petroleum Service Corporation provides Coast Guard licensed tankermen for loading and unloading of barges – a critical role in the U.S. refining and chemical industries. The tankerman serves as the person-in-charge of critical operations, with responsiblity for protecting the environment by ensuring the safe transfer of petrochemicals to barges.

Our tankermen are trained in the handling of dangerous liquids and liquefied gases, vapor recovery, firefighting, facility operations, and emergency response. In an effort to increase the number of qualified, well-trained tankermen to meet the needs of our customers, we also offer a comprehensive tankerman training program through our Tankerman Career Academy (TCA). The mission of the TCA is to train people to be the best tankermen in the industry through a program which includes both classroom and one-on-one field instruction.
